Out Loud Artistic Staff
Joshua Kai Brown AKA Kai Lee Mykels, or simply Kai, (they/them) is a non-binary queer conductor, drag entertainer, comedian, and lover of life. Kai lives in Denver, Colorado via Texas. Kai has been the Artistic Director of Out Loud since January 2017. Under Kai’s direction, Out Loud has sung all throughout Colorado and will be participating in the GALA 2020 Festival. Kai was the first drag entertainer to perform on the Red Rock Amphitheatre stage in the summer of 2017.
Kai received their Master of Music in choral conducting from Texas State University and their Bachelor of Music in vocal music education from University of Texas at Tyler. While in both graduate and undergraduate programs, Kai was active in musical theatre, opera, and choral activity. In their graduate program, they served as Assistant Conductor of the Texas State University Men’s Choir and Associate Conductor of the Texas State Chorale. Kai is proud to be part of GALA Choruses and a member of the American Choral Director Association.

Joey Young, is thrilled and honored to be currently filling in as Interim Artistic Director as well as directing the small group quartet in Out Loud, Fourté.
Joey, a native son of Colorado Springs sees the positive and powerful impact Out Loud has on the community. He seeks to collaborate with the chorus members and the Colorado Springs community and to continue to expand the ever-evolving mission and tradition of the organization. Joey has a Bachelor's degree in Music Education and a Master's degree in Vocal Performance from the University of Northern Colorado. He has performed in many vocal and theatrical genres including: Jazz, Opera, Musical Theatre, Classical and Contemporary.
A Colorado Springs native, Sandi began playing piano at the age of four. Sandi graduated from the University of Arizona with a Bachelors of Music in Jazz Studies. In 2011, she performed with jazz guitar legend Earl Klugh at the Broadmoor Hotel, and in 2015 performed with Melissa Manchester with the Broadmoor Pops Orchestra (of which she is the Associate Conductor). She has also been Pianist and/or Conductor for a number of shows at the Colorado Springs Fine Arts Center, and has released a CD of her own original songs.
Sandi currently plays piano for various events at the Broadmoor Hotel and other venues in town, performs on the music team at the Unity Spiritual Center, and now with the guys of Out Loud (and newly-elected "Diva").
