Open rehearsals for our Fall 2026 season are August 24 and August 31. Attending an open rehearsal before auditioning is strongly encouraged!

Out Loud accepts singers of any gender or orientation, as long as they are LGBT+ affirming, are age 18 and over, and sing tenor or bass.

Want to audition after attending an open rehearsal? No problem!! Here's what you need to know!

  1. Show up. This is the hardest part, but we promise it's not scary, and totally worth it!

  2. Bring your music. A sheet music piece or karaoke track you love singing, your choice!

  3. Vocal placement. We'll guide you through a few simple scales to find the best section for your voice!
     

That's it! No pressure, no judging. Just a chance to sing and see if we’re a good fit together. Click this link for audition information, and to sign up for a slot!

For any treble voices that want to join, please note you will be asked to sing at least a D below middle C (D3).

Frequently Asked Questions

Q: I do not have a strong musical background. I’ve never sung in a chorus before. Should I still audition?

A: YES! We have members who only sang in the shower before joining, some who have advanced musical degrees, and everything in between. Part of Out Loud’s formula of success is to take a mix of singers with diverse experiences in music. 

Q: How often does Out Loud rehearse?
A: We rehearse every Monday evening from 7:00 to 9:30pm, with sectional and other special rehearsals as needed. 

Q: Are there financial obligations associated with membership?
A: Members of Out Loud are required to pay the following:

  • Dues are $300 annually, $150/concert can be paid monthly*

  • Retreat cost is TBD for this season​

*Financial assistance is available in exchange for volunteer hours. Complete information on costs and assistance will be available at the New Member Orientation.

Q: What do I need to bring for the audition?
A: A song to sing! Please bring either printed music for our pianist, or a karaoke track on your phone or device.

Q: What should I wear to the audition?
A: Whatever makes you feel comfortable!

Q: What happens during the audition itself? 

The Out Loud Artistic Director will hear your song selection, and then will guide you through a quick series of vocal exercises to determine vocal placement. That's it! The whole audition takes only a few minutes and will be over before you know it!

Q: What is the minimum age to sing with Out Loud? 

You must be 18 years old!
